About

I am a Political Science graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University and a former Graduate Research Fellow at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). My work sits where regulation meets data: at NIPSS I analysed regulatory and governance dynamics, assessed institutional risk and turned my findings into risk-tiered recommendations for senior audiences, and I am now building the technical skills to apply the same judgment to transaction data. I am building a career in AML/KYC compliance and financial crime risk, and the work below shows both sides: policy research grounded in the analysis of institutions and governance, and applied Excel projects built to solve real operational problems.

AML Transaction Monitoring: Rule Design and Testing

Rules decide which payments a bank flags, and every rule trades missed laundering against false alarms. I built and graded five rules on a 55,919-payment sample of a 5-million-transaction synthetic dataset. Flagging every ACH payment catches 87% of the laundering but stops 11.5% of honest payments, while the best-balanced rule catches 49% at a 2.1% false positive rate, and each widening of the net added flags that were less likely to be real.

RootLens™: Root Cause Analysis Workbench

An industrial client had no standard method for investigating equipment failures, so I designed and built a twelve-tab Excel workbook that takes an investigation from incident intake through root cause analysis to corrective actions and reporting. It was a paid engagement that I delivered end to end.

12 tabs · 200+ formulas · live dashboard driven by an RCA ID selector

How it works and why it matters for compliance
  • Structured method: a ten-section investigation form with dropdown controls, a 5 Whys workspace and a Fishbone analysis across six cause categories.
  • Evidence and accountability: registers for evidence (with source and confidence rating), corrective and preventive actions (with owners, priorities and due dates), lessons learned and a milestone timeline.
  • Live management view: KPIs, severity, stage pipeline and evidence counts across all investigations.
  • Usable without training: guidance prompts in each section and a blank template tab to copy for each new case.

Relevance to compliance work: the same pattern of intake, evidence with confidence ratings, assigned actions with due dates and an audit trail underlies compliance case management and investigations.

Research & Experience

June 2025 to May 2026

Graduate Research Fellow

National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, Nigeria

Analysed regulatory and governance dynamics and assessed institutional risk in more than four structured risk and institutional due diligence assessments for ministerial and national security stakeholders, using OSINT methodology to verify facts.

What this involved and why it matters for compliance
  • Designed analytical frameworks that translate complex regulatory and governance dynamics into risk-tiered recommendations for senior audiences working to tight reporting deadlines.
  • Coordinated stakeholder engagement across government agencies and research teams.

Relevance to compliance work: the reporting formats and investigative discipline of this work map closely onto customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence and adverse-media screening.

March 2025 to April 2026

Research and Communication Analyst (Intern)

Vestance Consulting, Lagos, Nigeria (Remote)

Ran OSINT verification across public databases, corporate registries and news sources, and produced more than five strategic policy reports and stakeholder presentations that turned complex data into executive-ready risk insights for institutional clients.
